DeWalt's D25203K is the tool you need to make holes 3/16- to 7/8-inch in concrete. It's powered by a heavy-duty, variable speed 7.5 amp motor with dust-sealed ball bearings for long life. For super versatility, it switches easily between three modes of operation: hammer drill, drill only, and hammer only. Set it to hammer, and you're ready to chip off materials like splattered mortar. Switch to drill, and you're set to drive bits and fasteners. It's packing 2.3 foot/pounds of impact energy, but the rubber molded handle makes a tough job more comfortable. Need to back out a fastener? Just switch to reverse mode. Should a bit jam, you're covered by the factory-set clutch that's ready to reduce any sudden, high-torque reaction. The side handle can be positioned anywhere on its 360-degree rotation, a great plus for left-handers as well as awkward workspaces. Because there's no battery to lug around, it's only 6 pounds, so it's easy on the user and feels good in the hand.--Kris Jensen-Van HesteDEWALT D25203K 1-Inch 3-Mode D-Handle SDS Hammer

Regular wood or metal drilling bits use a standard chuck. The description says you can easily select between hammering, chiseling, or drill only mode but the standard drilling chuck is not included with this drill. I confirmed with Dewalt that this model only comes with the SDS chuck, so you will not be able to use wood or metal bits without a separate adapter.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.*PERFECT* for the DIYerBy Terrible TigerI tried grunting my way through using a hammer drill to sink anchors in concrete. Then I went and bought one of these, and boy am I glad I did.I didn't even break a sweat using this thing. Drilling through concrete was about as close to effortless as it could get. I was drilling 3/4" holes in poured concrete and it was *easy*. The drill did all the work for me. 3/4" holes 2" deep took less than 30 seconds to drill. Oh, I was even able to do it using 1 hand to balance the tool while it did the rest of the work.If you're a DIYer at home like me, you do *not* need to spend more on one of the larger L shaped rotary hammers. This thing is absolutely *perfect* for anything the average DIYer could possibly throw at it.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. This is a really nice hammer drillBy Doug GehmlichI have owned this drill for almost two years and put it to heavy use. I have drilled 1/2 inch holes through 6 inches of 50 year old concrete, used the chisel to break through stucco and concrete. It has performed flawlessly. This drill has an SDS chuck and accepts only SDS bits and drills, so if you are looking for a light duty hammer drill, buy one with a regular drill chuck. But for heavy duty work, this drill is great.See all 5 customer reviews...
