We are building a home, this allows one person to do all the elevation work. The sounding device makes it relatively easy to know when the beam is on the marker. The self leveling is quick. Even though the unit is light weight, it seems well made. The battery compartments are tight-- it did include the batteries needed to operate the thing and the case makes iteasy to carry everything included. OvelI thought about buy a cheaper one, but time is money, this is so easy, pull it out of bag and set it up, no problem, can even put on hood of truck, I got mine, used it 14 day straight 8 hrs a day and batterys still working, levels its self in a min or less. Once I put new energizers in it, I haven't had to change them yet. It's been over a month. I originally had a DeWalt manual level laser. When it went bad I called a DeWalt service center, he advise me "off the record" to buy this one. It was "the best bang for the buck". I paid $380.00. To fix my old one it would have been $200.00. And this new one is auto level!When you turn this baby on, you can hear the gears spinning/leveling for about 3-5 seconds, then voala! I tested it out of level as well. If it's knocked out of level, it stops, re-levels and then continues. The only problem this posses, is if it's knocked too far off, and you don't notice, you might throw all your new measurements off because it won't have the same zero as your original mark... Anyway, over all, a big fat 5! Saves tons more time over the old one, and I actually have learned to like the D batteries over the rechargeables due to not having to worry about extra charged batteries.
